Change.
We’ve experienced a lot of it lately and our future promises to have so much more.   It’s obvious that some changes evoke excitement and other changes evoke fear.    What I’m wondering is: how do you move gracefully through all the emotions caused by change in your life?  What are some concrete ways you have found that help you go with the flow that is inevitable?

On the global level the changes that affect us are often times so subtle and our lack of awareness keeps us feeling insulated from them.

Or the changes are so complex that we feel powerless to do anything.

Or the changes are so promising that the energy is contagious and uplifting and might even feel unmanageable.

I’ve felt all of these in many different areas of my life and at various times on the global scale.   What I know to be true is that when the changes feel bigger than what I can handle, I need to intentionally create small changes in my personal life.  By doing that I again feel like the co-creator of my life and the micro changes begin to get me comfortable at the macro level.

Here are some suggestions for creating the small changes that could make a BIG difference in how you go with the flow of change.

*    Say the Serenity Prayer … and discern what you get to let go of and what you are called to do.
*   Go to bed or get up 1/2 hour earlier every day for 3 weeks.
*   Drive home a new way for a week or two or three…
*   Write your grocery list with your opposite hand
*   Order something new and different at a favorite restaurant
*   Practice Ho’oponopono … the Hawaiian practice of forgiveness.
*   Say Yes to doing something creative that you have wanted to do … like a painting class,  piano lessons,  voice lessons,  traveling to a new place…

When you allow yourself to be courageous and confident enough to be proactive and create changes on your own,  the inevitable changes in your outer world will be less fearful and your life will be more joyful!

Wishing you the deep serenity that comes from knowing the truth of the scientific and spiritual principle:   there is order in what appears to be chaos…. every moment.

…AWE!    Not for something spectacular or mysterious outside of yourself, but for YOU!?

This season of beauty, color, and harvest invites us to reflect on the accomplishments in our life.   I encourage you to go outside into a beautiful natural setting, sit with yourSelf and remember.

Be affirming like you would to a friend,  your best friend.   Acknowledge the courage it took for you to do whatever you are proud of doing.

Allow yourSelf to embrace whatever thoughts and feelings come up.

Admire the gifts of your remembering like you admire a brilliant red maple under a bright blue sky!

Create a ritual for yourself to let go and expand yourSelf into receiving more of the joy you are worthy of experiencing.

Honor the wisdom you gained from all your experiences , and remember that who you have become is truly the most beautiful harvest of this season.

May this autumn bring you into a deeper appreciation for the journey you’ve been on.

May it also bring you a renewed enthusiasm for continuing to persevere during the  difficult winters of your life.

Sending you waves of love to keep you warm!

PS
Remember to allow yourself time to just BE during this Full Moon.   It’s a time to rest and honor the Divine Feminine energy within you that nurtures and nourishes the Love you are!

Do you remember how you felt when a new school year was starting?
Were you excited for the new classroom?  for the new teacher?  for the new people you would meet?  for the new learning that would occur?

I know that school for the children has already been in session for almost a month, but I’m curious….  Have you experienced a new ‘classroom’ recently?   Are you yearning for the butterflies in your stomach that are partly from fear and from excitement?   Do you feel a nudge to get out of your current ‘classroom’ and explore new ideas and concepts and meet new friends?  What have you committed to for your own sense of pleasure and growth?

I know we are inundated with emails and blogs and so many many promos that invite and try to entice us to attend this seminar or that training.   It’s overwhelming for me at times.   I am committed to my personal evolution and to the evolution of our collective consciousness and still…..

So right now, I’m committed to listening to the Wisdom of my Higher Self.   I’m giving myself time and space to enjoy what I know!   To remember what I’ve learned and to remember who I am!   And then I’ll get back into the classrooms with renewed enthusiasm and excitement!  I think it will only take a couple weeks … I get bored very quickly when I’m only remembering what I already intellectually know!

Next week I’m going off to Lake Superior to be with wise women feeling excited that their wisdom will be the ‘book’ I read and the North Shore will be my classroom!   I know that this is the best classroom for me right now and I know that my new friends will become soul sisters who will teach me better than any book or seminar!

In a couple weeks,  I’ll be back reading and participating and getting all excited about new ideas and new opportunities.   Until then,  I’m going to enjoy every moment in my outdoor classroom and when that grade level is over, I’ll be on to the next!

How about you?   What is your next ‘classroom’?

For so many of us, there is an old unconscious belief that if something good happens…“just wait, the other shoe will drop.”

With the horrific tragedies all over the globe in the past few weeks and actually, in our life times, I think we have come to expect the ‘other shoe’. I dare say, it has even become the energetic field in which so many of us live. We expect the unexpected to be filled with bad news, tragedies, and feelings of powerlessness.

I’m wondering what it would be like if our focus was different. What if we expected delightful surprises instead of the news we are used to getting? What if we chose to face the brutal realities with compassion and necessary actions, AND we also consciously chose to expect something different?

One of the reasons I love fireworks is because I always expect beauty and fun surprises. I believe we can do the same when we look to our global future.

On the micro level, how would our lives be different if we simply acknowledged the delightful surprises that occur daily in our lives? Do you think it would begin to shift our awareness and our expectations on the macro level? Would that new focus help us counterbalance the ‘other shoe’ mentality?

You probably already have a Gratitude Journal. Would you like to join me this month in tweeking our journals to be specifically for Delightful Surprises?

I’ll start right now. I used a holistic approach to think of some things and this is what bubbled up in my awareness. Delightful Surprises that affect my:

BODY – I’ve started to enjoy riding my bike again. I’ve actually done it several times each week in the last month and it wasn’t even on my ‘to-do’ list this summer!
MIND – Yesterday I spontaneously unsubscribed from all the internet webinar promotional stuff! I was feeling totally overwhelmed and the good student in me didn’t want to miss anything; but I now feel free to let my mind rest. I can honor my own wisdom and come back to all the other stuff when I yearn for it. Truly an unplanned action and a delightful surprise!
SOUL – I decided I want to sing for fun and for spiritual deepening. I quit my beloved choir and instead, I’m going to chant and sing Broadway hits with friends! ooooooooooh I can hardly wait!!!

What do you think? Can our individual shifts in consciousness shift the energy of the planet? Do you think we are near the ‘100th monkey’? Are you feeling hopeful about our future, or are you waiting for the ‘other shoe to drop’?

If you decide to tweek your Gratitude Journal, I’d love to hear from you. And if you feel a shift in your energy by focusing on delightful surprises, I will celebrate with you!

PS   I’m going to more fireworks tonight!!!  BIG ones too … with music!!!

A Full Moon  and  the  Summer Solstice!

On Monday, June 20!   A day of significance for all of us.   But why,  and so what?

Here is what it means to me….
It is a day of possible profound energetic Balance of the Feminine and Masculine energies within the Universe.  This energetic balance is what I continually strive for within me.

I know everything is energy, and I know all the elements of the Universe are within me, but I do forget my oneness with that Source energy way too often.    FIRE WITHIN by the women’s group LIBANA is a beautiful chant that raises my vibration and gets me singing the truth of my energetic oneness.  I invite you to listen to it … often.   And let me know if you can listen without singing along with them!!

Be, Do, Have
Have you heard of the BE, DO, HAVE relationship for living in a higher consciousness?   I see a correlation with the energies of the sun and moon:

Who I am BEING informs my DOING and that behavior gets me what I am  HAVING.

The FULL MOON is a time to BE … to stop all the doing and revitalize the feminine energy needed to receive and nourish new dreams.

The SUN is the masculine energy, the muscle that births what we desire to HAVE. It is the energy that moves us to DO what needs to be done.

Never Be The Sun is a song that sums up the beauty and power of WHO we are!  The Lyrics are by Dolores Keane and I like the arrangement by David Howard.

You’ll never be the sun turning in the sky
And you won’t be the moon above us on a moonlit night
And you won’t be the stars in heaven
Although they burn so bright
But even on the deepest ocean
You will be the light

  An Invitation to you….

On Monday, June 20  Sunrise is at 5:36am CDT & the Full Moon is at 6:04am.
(The Solstice  is at 5:34pm and Sunset is at 9:03.)

I invite you to get up and BE in this moment of Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine Balance.   Allow yourself to breathe in the beauty of your life and feel the energy surge through you.
Ask yourself these 2 questions:  (Then you can go back to bed!)

You will intuitively know what your body, mind, and soul want to express at that moment.

“What is my dream for this summer?
“Who do I get to BE to co-create it?”

May your summer be playful and fruitful and filled with ease and the Light of Love!

For me, the concept of being both human and Divine is a basic truth.   If you are reading this,  I think it might be for you as well.

At this time of year when so many ancient traditions celebrate their beliefs around resurrection of the earth and our body,  I want to share one of my deepest beliefs.  It is this …. even with all my imperfections and my faults,  I am a divine goddess, and so are you.

This is not really a new revelation to you, I’m sure.  I’ll even bet you’ve said it before too.   But I’m wondering if talking about your divinity or claiming being a ‘goddess’ is just a spoken affirmation, or do you really embrace this at  your core?  Does this truth vibrate in your cells and evoke awe and wonder, or instead, do you  feel a sense of resistance and hear the little voice in your head saying ‘yeah, right!’ more often than you’d like?

If you would like to sink into the comfort of a sacred circle of authentic women and experience profound activities and a wisdom sharing conversation about your divine journey,  I invite you to gather with me on sacred land at Lake Superior for the Embracing the Goddess Within You retreat April 28- May1.

This retreat is about celebrating the fullness of being a woman in our own unique expression of the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine

The goddess archetypes are only used as a framework to identify what it really means to be a goddess today in the 21st century. The activities are designed around embracing nature, your body, your creativity, your intuition, and celebrating the community of women.

This is not about male-bashing or challenging institutions or worshiping goddesses.  It is about your spiritual journey and the aha insights you receive will be life enriching, and could be life-changing!

“I want to thank you for the incredible experience of last weekend. It was truly magical, and I am not the same person I was when the retreat started….. God bless you and this work which is helping to illuminate our world.” Debra

By the way … did I mention that soul touching uplifting music is a vital element of this retreat?  And also,  did I mention that playfulness and humor abound!  The archetypal energy of the goddess Baubo keeps us having fun!!!

Come gather with us...share your wisdom, play, laugh, cry, dance, sing, explore and return home feeling freer, more empowered, and more deeply honored than ever before!

“My mind thanks you!  My body thanks you!  My spirit thanks you!  What an amazing retreat!  Thank you for bringing forth the courage, wisdom, leadership and intent that allowed all the beautiful women to experience such incredible richness and transformation!   Bonnie

This retreat is limited to 12 women.  REGISTER NOW on this website to reserve your space in this sacred circle!

When is the last time you heard a teenager, or your friend,  or yourself say:
   ‘Ya,  I know…whatever!” ?

Is there any better expression of a closed mind and an attitude of resignation? What was your visceral experience when you heard it spoken?  When is the last time you felt this way?   What was the conversation about?   Were you aware that you were shutting down and going into a flight or freeze mode?

In today’s fast paced world with a gzillion changes occurring in our life every day,  it is so easy to just slip into the unconscious pattern of resigning ourselves to what seems too complicated or too impossible to change.  What if our awareness of this pattern was enough to fuel the energy needed to look deeply and choose to put forth the effort to make desired changes.

I am reminded of the Serenity Prayer ...
God, Grant me the Serenity
to accept what I cannot change,
the Courage to change what I can,
and the Wisdom to know the difference.

It’s the Wisdom aspect that is the most difficult for me.   I am a ‘can do’ person that will make things happen. I am also experienced enough to usually recognize when it’s obvious that I cannot change something.  It’s discerning the difference  in the grey areas that are often clouded by my old beliefs and behaviors.   I ‘know’ I can really only change myself; but what are my responsibilities toward family?  How can I ‘do something’ to ripple changes in the world?  How will I intentionally channel my divine creative energies to add more joy to my life and others?

The first thing I get to do is intentionally open up my mind and heart like the full blooms of summer that have unfolded.  And then I get to embrace the fact that things are already changing.  Fall is coming.   I get to choose if I am to go into this with resignation or with an embrace of the beauty and the unexpected delights that will occur!   That open heart and physical stance will allow aha’s’ to rise up and support me in living the Serenity Prayer with greater conscious attention.

One of the best ways to discern answers is to go on a retreat and get away from the routine and the conflicting voices in your head. Focusing on gratitude for who you are and what is in your life, and listening to the wisdom of Nature and other wise women allows you to experience the serenity you yearn for in all areas of your life.

Are you willing to open up to greater clarity this Fall before winter sets in? Yes? Then come gather with us for the FALL into GRATITUDE retreat up at Lake Superior Sept. 27-29.  It’s an experience that is life-enriching for sure!  Here is what Cynthia said about it:

I had never attended any of Mary’s events before the Fall into Gratitude retreat, but it sounded fun, at a great price, happening on the North Shore, which I love, so I signed up. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done! The days were perfectly balanced with time for group activity, alone time for reflection, intimate conversation and exploring the stunning beauty of our environment. I would recommend the retreat to anyone who is looking for deeper connection to themselves and others, discovery of the power of gratitude and an experience of natural beauty that is unsurpassed in almost all the world!”

Cynthia Wold  co-author of The Art of Convening: Authentic Engagement in Meetings, Gatherings, and Conversations

I hope you will gather with us…it will be an experience of deep wisdom and serenity!

What are the full blossoms in your life right now?   In what area do you feel content to sit back and enjoy all the beauty you have co-created?  What relationships are you in that are blooming right now?  No, they don’t have to be ‘perfect’….just blossoming!

Summertime is a wonderful time to reflect on the goodness in your life at this very moment. You have worked hard to co-create many beautiful gardens of relationships and experiences. It has not always been easy to weed out the unhealthy beliefs, the un-supportive people, the habitual patterns of negative behaviors, and the overwhelming daily cultural influences. But you have done it … many times. And you can do it again!

Remembering the moments of your accomplishments is the foundation for creating even more beauty in your life garden. Go ahead, take a deep oxytocin breath and allow the memories and the feeling of pride in work well done to re-energize you.   Make the commitment to weed out what is not working and to lovingly tend to what will support more blossoms in your life.

Allow the summer sunshine of awareness and the rain of renewing energy to be the catalyst for new growth in all the areas of your life and to deepen the love you already experience.

May your gardens continue to grow in love and joy!

Are you glad to be alive?
Even when you are physically tired and emotionally exhausted, do you feel grateful to be breathing?
I do,  and my hope is that you do too.

This seasonal time of transition from what appears to be death to the stirrings of new life offers us the opportunity to consciously choose to be renewed in our passion for life.   And Spring also provides opportunities for us to feel renewed unexpectedly!

Like it did for me early this evening.   I had a full day filled with the love and energy of Awake! Women as we laughed and sang and shared wisdom from the ages. I came home from that gathering feeling so grateful and energized.   So energized that I needed a nap.  So I took one!

When I woke up, the sun was getting lower in the sky and I wanted to enjoy the last bit of bright yellow rays and the warmer temps, so I went out to rake up a very small section of our lawn.

The physical exercise was invigorating for sure, but to my surprise, it was the earthy fresh smell of the soil that really evoked a strong feeling of joy!
I just kept slowly breathing it all in … all my senses were awakened and I even felt like I was tasting the air and the dirt!   I giggled aloud!   Then I kept raking.    I had a job to finish you know.

Here is my wisdom gem from that experience …  It only takes a moment to be rejuvenated!

And the more moments you create by being in the moment, the greater your joy and sense of renewal!
And the greater your sense of joy, the easier it is to say you are glad to be alive!

Have you ever heard John Denver sing his song
I Want to Live   It is one of my all time favorites.  It lifts up my spirit when I’m down and it allows me to soar when I’m feeling good.

I invite you to click on the  youtube link  and listen to him sing it.   I trust it will inspire you and create a rejuvenating moment for you!

I also invite you to come and experience a spring renewal up at Lake Superior with us.   The retreat May 14-17 is full of moments that will touch your heart and soul and re-ignite your passion for living your life with enthusiasm, love, and joy!

Wishing you many moments of serend!p!tous moments of delightful surprises!
